Robot Referee

 The robot can keep its eye on the ball to judge sports like baseball and tennis. It tracks the ball and figures out where it lands and then can make the right call. In sports like baseball and tennis, the ball needs to land inside the lines of the court to continue play so the right call is necessary. In baseball, the pitch has to be inside of an invisible box above the home plate to be considered a strike. In sports, human error is a big part of the game and can change the outcome but it is getting smaller due to instant replays. A robot that can instantly give a decision based on where the ball lands and determine the correct call can change the game and can remove the human error from these sports.

    Wow! Very interesting Adam! Thank you for sharing this information. It's crazy to think that robots could replace humans, but that's the future we are heading towards. It would also be nice to have more accurate calls which like you said, you could affect the outcome of the game.

    I think that would be very interesting having robots as refs. Calls would be more accurate which would be nice because there have been many times in games that refs had made questionable calls simply because they were not paying attention. However robots would be able to make calls instantly and be more accurate.

    Honestly I think that this is a little scary. But on the other hand anything is better than the referees that we have now. No offense to them but some are a little too old to be keeping up with where the ball is. And sometimes they are a little grumpy. Maybe this will be good that there are "up to date" people/robots to ref.

    The idea that robots an replace humans has been circling around the internet for a while, but we don't see this in reality a lot. So, to have people talking about this stirs up a lot of emotions. It's scary because we don't have a lot of overwhelming data that says these things are trustworthy. It night be a good idea to try robots out as referees because then we can gather more data on them. It would be interesting to go to a game with a robot as a referee.

    I think this idea of having robots as refs for professional or just any game in general is amazing! These calls would be a whole lot more accurate and then they wouldn't have to stop the game to see if the call they made was right. During games today so many calls are questionable calls and so many people arguing over them ,so this robot would eliminate those arguments. Plus maybe they could even record the games right on the robot!!

    This is very cool I think this would be much better than a regular referee. They would not have any chance of error that is biased towards a side. This would eliminate disbelief in uncertain plays. This would be a great invention for right now to promote social distancing and only need the players for the sport.

Current event

I am just doing a trial current event-  Are you supposed to put the link to your article in the summary?  Do you know how to do that?  My current event is an article from the magazine The Week.  It is titled   It's not just the germs — it's also the genes  The article discusses how a person's genes play a part in how viruses react within that body.  It talks about how some people may get a virus more seriously than another & how scientists can look at that information and develop therapies from.  Just so you know The Week pulls articles from other sources-  I did backtrack to check the source they got the original article from & it checks out.

 Over 87,000 papers have been published about this global pandemic. When most people think of the pandemic going around right now, they think about how awful it all is. How many people have died, how many people have lost a family member, or how many people they have lost relationships with friends or family. But, do people ever think about how this event will go down in history, and how it will affect science studies in the future? We never know what type of science we will come across in the future, but we can say that science evolves every day, and things are constantly changing. This is why so many people are interested in this pandemic. The more we know about this pandemic, the more we can do to try and change is. So, what will science bring in the future?
