Messages on Mars

During Perseverance's landing on Mars, some people noticed the parachute had an interesting pattern. NASA later confirmed it was a secret code that they had implemented. After so many tries, Maxence Abela and his father decoded the message using binary code. The message read "Dare Mighty Things," which is a reference to President Roosevelt's "The Strenuous Life" speech from 1899. After this mystery was solved, people began to notice other hidden codes on Perseverance, which NASA later confirmed was intentional.

I find it interesting that NASA took the time to implement codes and hidden messages into their work, and I am excited to see what we can discover next.

  1. This is a really interesting article and cool implement to NASA's creations. It reminds me of an Easter Egg hunt, but instead of eggs we are looking for clues or codes in many different creations. I wonder why NASA puts the codes in? Is it for fun or is there a certain reasoning behind it?

  2. This is really neat how there are people who can make these messages but also people who can decode them. I think that NASA is maybe just showing off how smart they all are. Maybe for those people who decode them it is kind of a fun game and they probably show off that they can decode a NASA secret code thing.
