Australia Floods See Swarming Spiders and Wet Wallabies as Animals Seek Refuge

'Australia Floods See Swarming Spiders and Wet Wallabies as Animals Seek Refuge'

Article

The article I chose to read is about the Australian floods and how people are seeing swarming spiders and wet wallabies as the animals are seeking refuge. the article is titled, "Australia floods see swarming spiders and wet wallabies as animals seek refuge." The article talked about how this is the worst flooding in decades-- first fires now floods. People watched as thousands of spiders scaled their backyards. Someone said, "All the brown you can see is spiders trying to beat the floodwater, All the brown you can see is spiders trying to beat the floodwater."  Many had to save cattle, pets, and dogs from shelters at risk of flooding as well.

This article was very interesting and terrifying to me as well. I dislike spiders and to imagine thousands of spiders in my backyard and everywhere I look is so scary. I also felt bad for all the animals in danger of the floods as well. One farmer lost 85 cows because they couldn't swim and were stuck in vines. Around 20 dogs were rescued from a kennel as well at the risk of the rising waters. Do you think the water will continue rising or start dropping?

  1. I agree with you, this is terrifying. I never knew Australia had such bad floods, and thinking of spiders scaling the sides of my house reminds me of the lantern fly break out we had a few years ago.
