Global Warming
Global Warming in the artic may mean colder winters for some areas. This is happening because global warming pushes off warmer air which holds in the moisture of cooler air. This means that there is a greater chance that there will be an increasing amount of precipitation like snow and rain. Arctic amplification is when the giant white blankets of snow in the north push the heat back into the atmosphere giving off the surface temperature. Due to the fact that these white blankets of snow are melting the dark water is being revealed. This causes more warming because the dark water absorbs the heat. The artic is warming up faster than anywhere else on the earth. We can help reduce this by limiting the greenhouse gases that we use; like methane and carbon dioxide.
I personally thought that this was very interesting about how the snow blankets in the north are melting and heating up the water causing further warming. I also thought that it was surprising that we may get more snow and rain because of it. Weather patterns are always changing but I believe that there will be some drastic changes that occur in the next few years. Despite rising temperatures, climate change is making winter colder and summers hotter.

I never thought that the waters could be absorbing more heat. It's crazy to think that humans are causing their own demise. Do you think that we can actually turn around this process or do you think we've already gotten ourselves too deep into this situation that it can't be reversed and why?
ReplyDeleteI am really not sure if we can get ourselves out of the hole that we dug. Our hole is so deep now that even if we try to get out of this situation it may only help a little bit. It's so sad to here that we are causing a problem that we are so worried about yet not doing anything to actually fix it.
DeleteI just did an article on cars, and they produce green house gases. Oh no! I think this is really sad to think about because of all the animals in the artic. Also so far this winter it has not stopped snowing so I defiantly believe that you said we will have more snow.
