Training Young Doctors to Think Like Scientists
There are many reasons why people think we should train doctors to think like scientists. One of the more popular reasons is because people think that doctors should be doing research and running new trials as opposed to just helping people. I think that the more we know about medicine the better, but I also think that doctors should not put 95% of the time they work in to a new trial for a dissease. Doctors are trained to help people from the start. If we want out doctors to think like scientists, then we need to start there when people first come to medical school or any type of schooling to become a doctor. https://nyulangone.org/news/training-young-doctors-think-scientists
I think that doctors should learn to do some research because they have a different perspective on certain things. For example, they are able to understand more in depth with what happens to patients, versus just watching cells react in a lab. I also think that with a different perspective, it could lead to more life saving breakthroughs.
ReplyDeleteI disagree, I feel that doctors should not be the ones that are doing the research and discovering new breakthrough treatments. Though they could help and give input in the treatments and administer the treatments to the patients. Rather than researching and coming up with treatments, they should be helping the patients. They main goal of a doctor is to help the patient, so this means their main focus should be getting the patient healthy again instead of focusing on the research.
