Drones being sent into volcanoes
With an estimated 300 active volcanoes on Earth, the challenge is how to monitor them all to send out early warnings before they erupt. Measuring volcanic gas emissions is also no easy task. Researchers have designed specially-adapted drones to help gather data from an active volcano in Papua New Guinea. The drones could help local communities monitor nearby volcanoes and forecast future eruptions. This new way of predicting if volcanoes are about to erupt is life-saving and a new step into the future of predicting volcanic eruptions.

I think this will be really important for towns or cities close to volcanoes because they can really prepare for the eruption itself and then also the aftermath of the eruption. This would make it possible for families to get all their valuables out of their houses and time to find a temporary home for the time being.
ReplyDeleteI think this in very important for any cities or town near the volcanos. I wonder what material they use to withstand all the heat and to keep from ruining drone and all the equipment inside the drone to measure and chart all the data it is collecting.
