Arctic Ocean Changes

The Arctic Ocean is not thought of as a highly productive area--there are times of the year where little light provides energy for photosynthesis.  Recent findings have shown that there has been a significant increase in phytoplankton throughout these waters.  Because phytoplankton are at the bottom of the food chain, I wonder about the effects of this change.  This puts the whole ecosystem out of balance, and that is a concern because ice melts associated with climate change have already upset their stability.  On the brightside, this could be a big boom for the polar bears... if you're into that sort of thing.
